The Opportunity:

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef and Senior Chefs in delivering a high-quality, diverse dining experience across a wide range of services and events. This role is ideal for someone passionate about food and committed to excellence in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head Chef and Senior Chefs in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth service.
  • Prepare and present dishes to the highest standards, ensuring timely delivery across all service periods.
  • Mentor and guide Junior Chefs, fostering a positive and inclusive kitchen culture.
  • Maintain high standards of kitchen organisation, including stock control, food waste reduction, and compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Contribute creatively to menu development and refine dishes using seasonal produce and customer feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety and health and safety protocols.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of formal events and special occasions.
  • Collaborate with the team to build a strong, cohesive kitchen brigade.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Level 2 or 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery.
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification.
  • Proven experience in large volume catering.
  • Experience in supervising or managing a team in a similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations and the brigade system.
  • Experience in fine dining and formal events.

Preferred

  • Experience with menu development and creative dish refinement.
  • Knowledge of seasonal produce and customer feedback integration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
