The Opportunity:
As a Junior Sous Chef, you will support the Head Chef and Senior Chefs in delivering a high-quality, diverse dining experience across a wide range of services and events. This role is ideal for someone passionate about food and committed to excellence in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef and Senior Chefs in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth service.
- Prepare and present dishes to the highest standards, ensuring timely delivery across all service periods.
- Mentor and guide Junior Chefs, fostering a positive and inclusive kitchen culture.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen organisation, including stock control, food waste reduction, and compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
- Contribute creatively to menu development and refine dishes using seasonal produce and customer feedback.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and health and safety protocols.
- Assist in the planning and execution of formal events and special occasions.
- Collaborate with the team to build a strong, cohesive kitchen brigade.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Level 2 or 3 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery.
- Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification.
- Proven experience in large volume catering.
- Experience in supervising or managing a team in a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations and the brigade system.
- Experience in fine dining and formal events.
Preferred
- Experience with menu development and creative dish refinement.
- Knowledge of seasonal produce and customer feedback integration.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
