Summary:

KS2 Learning Support Assistant role with a focus on 1:1 support and emotional wellbeing.

The Opportunity:

As a KS2 Learning Support Assistant, you will provide individualised support to a Year 4 pupil with additional needs, helping them achieve academic success and emotional growth in a nurturing setting. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in a child’s life while working as part of a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to meet the pupil’s educational, social and emotional needs throughout the school day
  • Support the delivery of the pupil’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) through targeted interventions and differentiated activities
  • Implement and monitor the use of a sensory diet and regulation strategies
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to promote engagement, confidence and independence
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCo, therapists and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to support
  • Monitor pupil progress through observation and contribute to assessments and records
  • Support behaviour management in line with school policies
  • Provide pastoral support and encourage positive social interactions

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with children with additional needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to supporting pupil wellbeing and academic progress
  • Understanding of SEN support strategies and inclusive practices

Preferred

  • Experience in implementing sensory diets and regulation strategies
  • Experience with Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting
  • Familiarity with child protection and safeguarding procedures
  • Experience with behaviour management techniques
