The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Science Teacher to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEMH school. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to making a real difference in the lives of students with complex needs. The successful candidate will inspire curiosity, build strong relationships, and deliver engaging Science lessons tailored to a wide range of abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Science lessons across Entry Level, Functional Skills, Key Stage 3, and GCSE curricula.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, ensuring they feel supported and motivated.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with SEMH and SEND.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support student progress and wellbeing.
  • Participate in curriculum development and contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme.
  • Provide consistent, flexible, and non-judgemental support to students with complex and challenging behaviours.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and therapeutic training provided by the school.
  • Maintain accurate records and report on student progress regularly.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Science education.
  • Experience working within the SEMH sector, particularly with adaptive teaching approaches.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage complex and challenging behaviours in a trauma-informed way.
  • Commitment to student-centred learning and holistic development.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching students with Autism, ADHD, or communication difficulties.
  • Background in therapeutic or attachment-informed practice.
  • Experience in curriculum development or leadership within a school setting.
  • Familiarity with Functional Skills and Entry Level curricula.
