The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with their learning, social, and life skills. You will work in a small, committed team in a school that prioritizes student well-being and offers a flexible, low demand, and pupil-led learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with their learning, social, and life skills in a low arousal environment.
  • Work closely with class teachers to deliver a bespoke, differentiated curriculum.
  • Assist students in accessing their learning through blended methods, including online, workbooks, and worksheets.
  • Encourage student engagement and motivation through personalized and flexible learning opportunities.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students based on their individual needs and learning pace.
  • Attend regular meetings to discuss student progress and support strategies.
  • Ensure a safe, positive, and empowering learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • A good sense of humour and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction when needed.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students with SEMH.
  • Previous experience in an alternative provision or special educational needs setting.
  • Experience with blended learning methods.
  • Proactive approach and willingness to take initiative in student support.
