The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. This is a key position in a school that values creativity, collaboration, and the personal growth of both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support class teachers in managing pupils and preparing classrooms for learning
  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans and behaviour management strategies
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of learning needs and disabilities
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure consistent support for students across the school
  • Assist with general classroom management and resource organisation
  • Support pupils during breaks and transitions between activities
  • Participate in staff development and training opportunities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Previous experience working with children and young people with special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Flexibility to work term time only with additional INSET days

Preferred

  • Experience in a special school or similar setting
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
  • Experience with supporting students with autism or learning difficulties
  • Familiarity with SEND pedagogy and curriculum development
