The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities. This is a key position in a school that values creativity, collaboration, and the personal growth of both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support class teachers in managing pupils and preparing classrooms for learning
- Assist with the implementation of individual education plans and behaviour management strategies
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of learning needs and disabilities
- Contribute to the creation of a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with staff to ensure consistent support for students across the school
- Assist with general classroom management and resource organisation
- Support pupils during breaks and transitions between activities
- Participate in staff development and training opportunities
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Previous experience working with children and young people with special educational needs
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Flexibility to work term time only with additional INSET days
Preferred
- Experience in a special school or similar setting
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
- Experience with supporting students with autism or learning difficulties
- Familiarity with SEND pedagogy and curriculum development
