The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with special educational needs and mental health challenges. This is a vital role in helping students reach their full potential within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs and mental health challenges in a classroom setting.
  • Work closely with the SENCO to implement individual support plans and interventions.
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons, adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being to the teaching team.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure a consistent approach to student support.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant experience in a learning support or educational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • A relevant Level 2 qualification in education or a related field.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs or mental health challenges.
  • Experience in SEND or mental health support interventions.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and practices.
  • Experience in a Catholic or faith-based educational setting.
