The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with special educational needs and mental health challenges. This is a vital role in helping students reach their full potential within a supportive and inclusive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with special educational needs and mental health challenges in a classroom setting.
- Work closely with the SENCO to implement individual support plans and interventions.
- Assist in the delivery of lessons, adapting teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Monitor and report on student progress and well-being to the teaching team.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure a consistent approach to student support.
- Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Relevant experience in a learning support or educational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- A relevant Level 2 qualification in education or a related field.
Preferred
- Experience working with students with special educational needs or mental health challenges.
- Experience in SEND or mental health support interventions.
- Knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies and practices.
- Experience in a Catholic or faith-based educational setting.
