The Opportunity:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential. You will contribute to an inclusive and positive school culture, ensuring that students are challenged, motivated, and supported in all aspects of their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities to ensure their inclusion in the classroom and wider school community
- Building positive relationships with students and fostering a sense of achievement and responsibility
- Developing and maintaining effective communication with parents and carers
- Promoting positive student behaviour and assisting in conflict resolution
- Providing flexible and high-quality support, including during school trips and examinations
- Updating students’ success passports on a regular basis
- Participating in staff meetings, training, and annual reviews as a key worker
- Supporting students with personal care as required and complying with safeguarding policies
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and parents
- Commitment to inclusion and promoting student achievement
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of teaching strategies for students with diverse learning needs
- Experience with examination access arrangements and scribing
- Familiarity with the SEARCH values: School Matters, effort, achievement, responsibility, character, and high aspirations
