The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant - SEMH, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will help create a safe and encouraging environment where students feel supported, engaged, and empowered to succeed. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs through tailored interventions and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Work closely with Inclusion Leaders, Connect Managers, and teaching staff to deliver a cohesive support plan.
  • Promote student engagement and participation in daily routines and learning activities.
  • Deliver targeted activities that support the development of social and emotional skills.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to the team.
  • Maintain a calm, structured, and positive environment for learners.
  • Collaborate with pastoral staff to ensure consistent support across all areas of student life.
  • Assist with the delivery of an adapted curriculum and targeted interventions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Understanding of inclusive education and support strategies.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic learning environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a specialist support setting or similar role.
  • Knowledge of emotional regulation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
  • Experience with pastoral care and student support frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the White Rose Academies Trust or similar educational institutions.
