The Opportunity:

As Assistant Headteacher - Teaching and Learning, you will lead and develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning across the school. This role is essential in driving continuous improvement, supporting staff development, and ensuring students achieve exceptional progress.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and monitor the quality of teaching and learning across the school to ensure high standards of achievement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support staff professional development and growth.
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of teaching practices and student progress.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to enhance the strategic direction and operational management of the school.
  • Promote a culture of high aspirations and mutual respect among staff and students.
  • Provide guidance and support to teaching staff to improve classroom practice and student outcomes.
  • Ensure consistent application of the school’s values and ‘Ways of Being’ across all areas of the academy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, ideally in a school or academy setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • In-depth knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies, curriculum development, and staff training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
  • Experience in driving continuous improvement and quality assurance in educational settings.

Preferred

  • Experience in a similar role within a multi-academy trust or large educational institution.
  • Familiarity with the Co-op values and ‘Ways of Being’.
  • Experience in leading and managing change within a school or academy context.
  • Strong understanding of educational policies, including Ofsted requirements and inspection processes.
  • Experience in developing and implementing whole-school improvement plans.
