The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant (SEND), you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in a dynamic and inclusive environment. You will work closely with small groups and individual students, helping them achieve their full potential and contributing to their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individual pupils and small groups in the Alternative Resource Provision/ASC Base.
  • Assist with the delivery of targeted learning activities tailored to the needs of students with speech, language, and communication needs, including those with autism.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and other support staff to ensure consistent and effective support for students.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing in line with the school’s values and expectations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individual support plans and learning strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with staff and parents regarding student progress.
  • Provide a calm, patient, and encouraging environment that fosters confidence and resilience in students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in special educational needs support.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum of GCSE Level 4 (grade C) or above in English and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 2 in teaching assistance or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Experience in Alternative Resource Provision or ASC settings.
  • Knowledge of speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Experience with EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) support.
  • Commitment to inclusion and values-led education.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive annual salary of £24,531.72.
  • Term-time only employment (39 weeks per year).
  • 32.5 hours per week with a ½ hour unpaid lunch break.
