Summary:

Learning Support Worker needed at a school dedicated to supporting pupils with SEMH needs.

About the School:

A school dedicated to providing a safe, structured environment for pupils with complex needs, including SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and other additional diagnoses. The school focuses on developing confidence, independence, and emotional resilience through tailored support and inclusive learning.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Outside the Classroom Support Worker, you will deliver engaging outdoor learning experiences that help pupils build confidence, improve emotional regulation, and develop essential life skills. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people with complex needs in a supportive and impactful environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality outdoor learning experiences that are engaging, therapeutic, and purposeful.
  • Facilitate a range of outdoor activities in all weather conditions, including Forest School and therapeutic interventions.
  • Support pupils in small-group or 1:1 settings using outdoor learning approaches to address SEMH, behavioural, and social needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, engagement, and outcomes to inform ongoing support.
  • Maintain and manage outdoor equipment and resources to ensure safety and effective use.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent skills.
  • Strong spoken and written English.
  • Passion for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Calm, compassionate, and proactive approach.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs.
  • Experience in outdoor education or therapeutic activities.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience with behaviour support strategies for pupils with complex needs.
