The Opportunity:
As a Librarian, you will play a key role in managing and developing the school library, promoting a love of reading, and supporting the academic and personal development of students. This is a term-time only position with a focus on creating an engaging and inspiring learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop the school library, ensuring it is a welcoming and inspiring space for students and staff.
- Promote a culture of reading for pleasure and support learning across the curriculum.
- Work closely with teaching staff, particularly the English Department, to enhance the library’s role in academic life.
- Attend staff meetings, training days, open events, and school activities to contribute to the wider life of the school.
- Uphold and promote the ethos and values of the school at all times.
- Ensure the library is well-organised, safe, and accessible to all students.
- Support and assist students in selecting and using library resources effectively.
- Maintain and update library systems and records to ensure efficient operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in library management and a passion for reading.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to the school’s ethos and values.
Preferred
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge of library software and cataloguing systems.
- Experience in developing and promoting reading initiatives.
- Flexibility to work term-time only and during school events.
