Lower School Classroom Assistant - Design & Technology. Support teaching and learning in a progressive independent school.

The Opportunity:

As a Lower School Classroom Assistant - Design & Technology, you will support teaching and learning within the Design and Technology Department. You will work closely with teachers to provide a joyful and enriching learning experience for children, helping them develop key skills in communication, collaboration, and creative thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and practical Design and Technology lessons.
  • Assist in preparing and organizing resources and materials for classroom activities.
  • Work closely with students to encourage creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.
  • Support the development of students’ practical and technical skills through guided activities.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the classroom and department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Experience working with children in educational or care settings.
  • Interest and enjoyment in design, technology, or creative learning activities for primary pupils.
  • Commitment to child-centred education and the ethos of the school.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues.

Preferred

  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Experience in Design and Technology or awareness of practical, creative, or technology-based learning activities for primary pupils.
