The Opportunity:
As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring that the school environment is safe, functional, and well-maintained. This is a hands-on position that supports the delivery of a high-quality learning experience for students, staff, and visitors across multiple campuses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of a preventative maintenance programme across all campuses.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests and carry out minor repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and decorating.
- Monitor the condition of buildings, furniture, and fittings, and take proactive steps to maintain them.
- Assist with campus operations during busy periods such as exams and enrolment.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives including recycling and energy-saving activities.
- Report incidents, near misses, or hazards in line with health and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with Facilities Managers and other teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with room setups, portering, and deliveries as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in maintenance and repair work, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and decorating.
- Ability to work safely and follow health and safety procedures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across multiple campuses.
- Commitment to delivering a high-quality service and upholding safeguarding, equality, and inclusion standards.
- Experience in incident reporting and compliance with safety regulations.
Preferred
- Experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and environmental best practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including during busy periods such as exams and enrolment.
- Familiarity with industry-standard facilities and equipment.
