SEND Behaviour Support Officer

The Opportunity:

As a SEND Behaviour Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEND, SEMH, and pastoral needs. You will help develop and implement behaviour support strategies that promote positive engagement, attendance, and achievement, while ensuring safeguarding and wellbeing remain at the core of your work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement person-centred Behaviour Support Plans for individual learners
• Provide 1:1 and group support sessions in and outside of timetabled learning
• Monitor at-risk learners and collaborate with parents, staff, and external agencies to support engagement and progression
• Maintain accurate intervention records, SMART targets, and reports using college systems
• Support safeguarding processes, including recording concerns and initial declarations
• Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion and contribute to the school’s quality improvement processes
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including transitions and SEND services

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Proven experience working with students with SEND, SEMH, and pastoral needs
• Strong knowledge of behaviour support strategies and safeguarding procedures
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, parents, and colleagues
• Organised and reliable, with strong IT and administrative skills
• Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in daily practice

Preferred

• Experience in developing and implementing Behaviour Support Plans
• Background in education or social care
• Experience working with external agencies and stakeholders
• Experience with transitions and SEND services
