The Opportunity:

As a Development Manager, you will lead and deliver complex capital development projects across a multi-campus estate. This role is central to creating high-quality, safe, and sustainable learning environments that enhance the student experience and support the school’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of capital development and estate improvement projects from feasibility through to completion.
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective design, procurement, and construction.
  • Oversee project budgets, programmes, risks, and reporting to ensure compliance with cost, quality, and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with planning, building regulations, procurement requirements, and health and safety legislation.
  • Maintain strong communication across campuses and with external partners to ensure project requirements are understood and delivered.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, funding submissions, governance papers, and reporting.
  • Support wider managerial responsibilities including duty manager rota, enrolment support, and exam invigilation.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in delivering capital development or construction projects from feasibility through to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, procurement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent in development, construction, architecture, engineering, surveying, or project management.
  • Professional membership such as RICS, CIOB, APM, or CIAT.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.

Preferred

  • Experience working in the education or public sector.
  • Experience with government-funded programmes.
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and health and safety legislation.
  • Experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
