The Opportunity:

As a Maths Academic Mentor, you will support the teaching and learning of mathematics for Key Stage 3/4 students. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain practical experience in teaching without requiring previous experience. You will work closely with experienced teachers to help students develop their mathematical skills and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning of mathematics for Key Stage 3/4 students
  • Work closely with experienced teachers to enhance student understanding and confidence
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons and learning activities
  • Provide individualized support to students as needed
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Take feedback constructively and apply it to improve teaching practice
  • Contribute to a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • No previous teaching experience required; enthusiasm for supporting student learning is essential
  • Strong numeracy skills and understanding of Key Stage 3/4 maths curriculum content
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching or mentoring in an educational setting
  • Familiarity with Key Stage 3/4 curriculum standards
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
