The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a dynamic and expanding department that supports students aged 11-19 with a range of needs. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and contribute to a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with individuals or small groups of students in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff
- Support students away from the mainstream classroom at certain times
- Contribute to planning for individuals and groups
- Monitor student work, provide feedback to teachers, and assist with record-keeping
- Support students in understanding instructions and promote independent learning and inclusion
- Assist teachers with behaviour management and keeping students on task
- Support students' social and emotional development
- Assist with the organisation of the learning environment, including producing, maintaining, and storing resources
- Scribe in exams and demonstrate fluency in literacy
- Contribute to annual review feedback and update Learning Support Plans
- Lead and help with planning on interventions supported by SALT, EP, and Phoenix
- Provide support for students with medical needs and undergo First Aid Training
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Experience working with students with special educational needs
- Ability to work as part of a team under the supervision of teaching staff
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to inclusion and student support
- Experience with scribing in exams and literacy fluency
Preferred
- Experience in dealing with medical needs
- Completed First Aid Training
- Experience with interventions supported by SALT, EP, or Phoenix
- Experience in planning and delivering learning support interventions
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary based on Scale 2, points 3 - 4
- Term time only, fixed term contract with the possibility of extension
