The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a dynamic and expanding department that supports students aged 11-19 with a range of needs. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and contribute to a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with individuals or small groups of students in the classroom under the direct supervision of teaching staff
  • Support students away from the mainstream classroom at certain times
  • Contribute to planning for individuals and groups
  • Monitor student work, provide feedback to teachers, and assist with record-keeping
  • Support students in understanding instructions and promote independent learning and inclusion
  • Assist teachers with behaviour management and keeping students on task
  • Support students' social and emotional development
  • Assist with the organisation of the learning environment, including producing, maintaining, and storing resources
  • Scribe in exams and demonstrate fluency in literacy
  • Contribute to annual review feedback and update Learning Support Plans
  • Lead and help with planning on interventions supported by SALT, EP, and Phoenix
  • Provide support for students with medical needs and undergo First Aid Training

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs
  • Ability to work as part of a team under the supervision of teaching staff
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to inclusion and student support
  • Experience with scribing in exams and literacy fluency

Preferred

  • Experience in dealing with medical needs
  • Completed First Aid Training
  • Experience with interventions supported by SALT, EP, or Phoenix
  • Experience in planning and delivering learning support interventions
