As a Maths Second in Charge, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the direction of the maths department. You will be responsible for supporting the Head of Department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the maths teaching team in delivering a consistent and high-quality curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues to co-plan and develop units of work across all year groups.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of maths staff to ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
- Work closely with the Head of Department to implement departmental strategies and initiatives.
- Promote a culture of professional development and continuous improvement within the maths team.
- Support the school in achieving its educational goals and standards.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the strategic direction of the maths department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in mathematics.
- Proven experience in a leadership or senior teaching role within a school setting.
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a maths department or team.
- Knowledge of current maths teaching methods and curricula.
- Experience in supporting teacher development and mentoring.
- Familiarity with assessment and data analysis in education.
