The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead and inspire a high-achieving department, driving academic excellence and student outcomes. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mathematics education and supporting colleagues to deliver outstanding teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a rigorous and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
  • Support and mentor colleagues, promoting best practice and continuous professional development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, identifying and addressing gaps in learning.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded educational experience.
  • Represent the department at meetings, conferences, and external events.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s strategic vision.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and high achievement across the department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or educational institution.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics, with a commitment to academic excellence.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a successful teaching team.
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student success.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department through Ofsted inspections or similar evaluations.
  • Experience with data analysis and student performance tracking.
  • Experience in working with a diverse student population.
  • Experience in professional development and staff training.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technology in education.
