The Opportunity:
As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead and inspire a high-achieving department, driving academic excellence and student outcomes. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mathematics education and supporting colleagues to deliver outstanding teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Mathematics department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a rigorous and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
- Support and mentor colleagues, promoting best practice and continuous professional development.
- Monitor and assess student progress, identifying and addressing gaps in learning.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and well-rounded educational experience.
- Represent the department at meetings, conferences, and external events.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s strategic vision.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and high achievement across the department.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school or educational institution.
- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics, with a commitment to academic excellence.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a successful teaching team.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student success.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department through Ofsted inspections or similar evaluations.
- Experience with data analysis and student performance tracking.
- Experience in working with a diverse student population.
- Experience in professional development and staff training.
- Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and technology in education.
