Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver engaging Maths lessons in line with school policies and curriculum requirements.
  • Plan and develop teaching resources that support student progress and learning outcomes.
  • Assess student performance regularly and use data to inform teaching strategies and improve learning.
  • Set and mark homework, classwork, and extended learning tasks in accordance with school policies.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes effective learning and good behaviour.
  • Stay up to date with educational trends and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
  • Contribute to departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, and subject planning.
  • Support students as a form tutor, building strong relationships and promoting positive attitudes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents through formal reporting, parents’ evenings, and regular updates.
  • Ensure the safe and responsible use of school equipment and maintain a secure learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., QTS, PGCE, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in teaching Maths at the appropriate key stage.
  • Strong understanding of Maths curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Commitment to student well-being and behaviour management.

Preferred

  • Experience in a small, community-focused school environment.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management strategies and pastoral care.
  • Experience in providing pastoral support as a form tutor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
  • Experience in using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
