The Opportunity:

As the Head of Mathematics, you will lead and inspire a dedicated faculty, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages. This role offers the chance to shape the future of maths education and drive continuous improvement in student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the maths faculty, ensuring consistent high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Support and mentor colleagues, sharing best practices and promoting professional development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, providing constructive feedback.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align maths department goals with the school's strategic vision.
  • Develop and implement a clear curriculum pathway across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in the maths department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-curricular learning and student engagement.
  • Ensure the effective use of resources and technology to enhance teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong track record in teaching and leading maths at secondary level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staff training.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment strategies.
  • Familiarity with maths education research and innovative teaching methods.
  • Experience with Ofsted inspections or school improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of instructional coaching and teacher training programs.
  • Experience in leading a department through periods of growth and development.
