The Opportunity:

As a Midday Meals Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, nutritious, and enjoyable mealtime experience for students. This position supports the school’s mission to provide a nurturing environment where every pupil can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the midday meal service across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Support students during meal times, promoting positive behaviour and encouraging independent eating skills.
  • Liaise with kitchen staff and other school personnel to coordinate meal provision and address any concerns.
  • Monitor and maintain a clean, hygienic, and welcoming dining environment.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during breaks and transitions to and from the dining area.
  • Provide support to students with complex needs, including those with sensory or dietary requirements.
  • Document and report any incidents or concerns related to mealtime activities.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere during mealtimes, encouraging social interaction and communication skills.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a supervisory or support role within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children of all ages, including those with complex needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple sites and during term time only.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a special school or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of dietary requirements and food safety standards.
  • Experience in managing or assisting with mealtime routines.
  • Familiarity with behaviour management strategies for children with complex needs.
