The Opportunity:

As a Class Teacher for SEND Students, you will play a vital role in delivering a bespoke curriculum that supports students with moderate to severe learning difficulties. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and assess learning opportunities tailored to the needs of a class group of students with complex needs.
  • Deliver a high-quality, bespoke curriculum that aligns with the school’s educational goals and values.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, teaching assistants, and other professionals to support student progress.
  • Monitor and review student progress regularly, ensuring that learning outcomes are met and adjusted as needed.
  • Fulfil professional responsibilities in line with the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and Teachers’ Standards.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes personal and social development.
  • Engage with parents and carers through regular communication and student reviews.
  • Support students in developing life skills and preparing for adult life.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in special education, preferably with students with moderate to severe learning difficulties.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with therapists and support staff.
  • Commitment to the school’s co-operative values and ethos of care and inclusion.
  • Experience in developing and delivering individual education plans (IEPs) or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with a range of additional needs, including communication and sensory challenges.
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies and approaches.
  • Experience in outdoor learning or Forest School environments.
  • Familiarity with the use of assistive technology in education.
