The Opportunity:

As a Teaching Assistant - Autism Practitioner, you will support students with autism in a structured, nurturing environment. Your role will be vital in helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, while promoting independence and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality, inclusive education for students with autism
  • Implement education policies, procedures, and agreed practices consistently
  • Provide individual and small-group support to help students access the curriculum independently
  • Promote students’ physical, educational, and personal development
  • Organise classrooms, resources, and displays to create a stimulating and autism-friendly learning environment
  • Maintain equipment and resources effectively, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns
  • Support the development and review of individual student documentation, including education, behaviour, and communication plans

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE Level 4 in English and Maths
  • Experience working with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of autism-specific teaching strategies
  • Experience with behaviour management techniques
  • Understanding of inclusive education practices
