The Opportunity:
As a Teaching Assistant - Autism Practitioner, you will support students with autism in a structured, nurturing environment. Your role will be vital in helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, while promoting independence and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of high-quality, inclusive education for students with autism
- Implement education policies, procedures, and agreed practices consistently
- Provide individual and small-group support to help students access the curriculum independently
- Promote students’ physical, educational, and personal development
- Organise classrooms, resources, and displays to create a stimulating and autism-friendly learning environment
- Maintain equipment and resources effectively, reporting any maintenance or safety concerns
- Support the development and review of individual student documentation, including education, behaviour, and communication plans
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- GCSE Level 4 in English and Maths
- Experience working with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
- Experience in a school or educational setting
- Knowledge of autism-specific teaching strategies
- Experience with behaviour management techniques
- Understanding of inclusive education practices
