The Opportunity:

As a Music Teacher, you will play a key role in inspiring and guiding students through a dynamic and inclusive music programme. You will contribute to a department that offers a wide range of musical experiences, from academic learning to performance opportunities, ensuring students develop both their talents and appreciation for music.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality music education to students across multiple year groups, including academic and performance-based learning.
  • Organise and lead a diverse range of co-curricular music activities, including concerts, trips, and events.
  • Support students in preparing for music examinations such as ABRSM, Trinity, LCM, and Rock School at all levels.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Music and other department members to develop and maintain a challenging and engaging curriculum.
  • Encourage and nurture students’ musical talents, helping them to progress to GCSE, A Level, and beyond.
  • Work closely with the Head of Performance and other specialists to support advanced musicians and music scholars.
  • Ensure a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes confidence and appreciation of music among all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in music education.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and pedagogy.
  • Ability to teach across a range of musical disciplines and performance levels.
  • Experience in preparing students for music examinations at GCSE and A Level.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or contributing to co-curricular music programmes.
  • Familiarity with ABRSM, Trinity, LCM, and Rock School examination systems.
  • Experience in working with students at all ability levels.
  • Strong performance background or experience in music ensembles.
