The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Biology to lead a thriving department and inspire students in a high-performing all girls’ school. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum delivery and drive academic excellence in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Biology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons across key stages 3-5
  • Act as a form tutor and support student wellbeing and development
  • Participate in and lead extra-curricular activities within the department
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum priorities
  • Promote the importance of Biology in developing young people’s knowledge and skills
  • Support the professional development of teaching staff within the department
  • Contribute to the school’s wider strategic and academic goals

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge
  • Proven experience in teaching Biology at key stages 3-5
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Strong understanding of curriculum priorities for Biology
  • Experience in a leadership or senior teaching role

Preferred

  • Experience in a Head of Department role
  • Familiarity with National professional qualifications
  • Experience in a school within a multi-academy trust
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Experience with extra-curricular programme development
