The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Biology to lead a thriving department and inspire students in a high-performing all girls’ school. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum delivery and drive academic excellence in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Biology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
- Deliver engaging and effective lessons across key stages 3-5
- Act as a form tutor and support student wellbeing and development
- Participate in and lead extra-curricular activities within the department
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum priorities
- Promote the importance of Biology in developing young people’s knowledge and skills
- Support the professional development of teaching staff within the department
- Contribute to the school’s wider strategic and academic goals
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge
- Proven experience in teaching Biology at key stages 3-5
- Ability to inspire and motivate students
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Strong understanding of curriculum priorities for Biology
- Experience in a leadership or senior teaching role
Preferred
- Experience in a Head of Department role
- Familiarity with National professional qualifications
- Experience in a school within a multi-academy trust
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Experience with extra-curricular programme development
