The Opportunity:

As a Music Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the musical education of students from Years 7 to 13. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or aspiring teacher to contribute to a dynamic and successful department that consistently achieves outstanding results in both academic and performance settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Music to students across a range of year groups, including those preparing for GCSE and A Level qualifications.
  • Deliver engaging and creative lessons that align with the school’s strong central ethos of inclusivity and musical excellence.
  • Contribute to co-curricular activities, including the rehearsal and performance of instrumental ensembles, choirs, and orchestras.
  • Support students in developing their performance, composition, and analytical skills through specialist lessons and workshops.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to produce and share high-quality teaching resources and materials.
  • Participate in the school’s performance cycle, including major concerts, choral services, and external competitions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students aiming to pursue music at university or music college.
  • Assist in the development of the school’s music programme and its integration with other departments, such as Drama.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher or equivalent, with a strong background in Music.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Music at both GCSE and A Level.
  • Strong keyboard skills and/or mastery of an instrument.
  • Experience in delivering creative and inclusive lessons.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos of academic excellence and co-curricular involvement.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching up to A Level.
  • Background in composition or performance.
  • Familiarity with music technology and software such as Logic or Sibelius.
  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
