Summary:

Specialist Occupational Therapist job opportunity with a focus on education and development.

About the School:

A school dedicated to providing specialist education and support for pupils on the autism spectrum, from early years through to secondary education.

The Opportunity:

As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will deliver bespoke occupational therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with a range of needs, including those on the autism spectrum. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an education setting while working with a supportive and multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Work collaboratively with education and clinical teams to support pupils in developing independence and life skills.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training and consultation for staff as required.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records in line with information governance and confidentiality standards.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to enhanced service delivery.
  • Support pupils with sensory, motor, and developmental needs through evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Communicate effectively with families, carers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for pupils.
  • Stay up to date with current legislation, clinical best practices, and research in occupational therapy.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registered and member of RCOT.
  • Relevant experience in a previously held role working with pupils with learning disabilities, SEMH, or neurodivergent needs.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational therapy theory and its practical application.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience of communicating with families, carers, and other professionals.
  • Experience of working with autistic children and young people in an education setting.
  • Good communication, analytical, and judgment skills.
  • Clear understanding of the relationship between behaviour and communication.
  • Clear understanding of physical needs, dexterity, coordination, and sensory skills.
  • Up to date knowledge of neurodivergence, learning disability, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Sound knowledge of assessment tools, intervention programmes, and treatment planning.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Ability and willingness to travel on company business.
  • Flexible approach to working environments and creative problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience practicing as an occupational therapist.
  • Evidence of formal postgraduate study in Sensory Integration, developmental trauma, or sensory attachment.
