The Opportunity:

As an SEN Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering individualised and engaging lessons tailored to the unique needs of students. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure a consistent, person-centred approach and support students in achieving their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver individualised and engaging lessons that consider cognitive, communication, and sensory profiles.
  • Lead and manage a class team to ensure a consistent and person-centred approach across the day.
  • Collaborate with therapists and other professionals to embed therapeutic strategies into daily teaching.
  • Use augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC) including high-tech and low-tech systems.
  • Build strong relationships with families and contribute positively to home-school communication.
  • Participate in annual reviews and Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) processes.
  • Support students with complex and severe learning needs and manage behaviours using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles.
  • Inspire and support a class team to deliver high-quality, consistent care and education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with proven SEN experience, ideally in a special school setting.
  • Extensive experience with AAC systems – both high-tech and low-tech.
  • Experience teaching students with complex and severe learning needs.
  • Ability to manage behaviours positively using PBS principles.
  • Skilled in multidisciplinary collaboration and embedding therapeutic/regulation strategies into teaching.
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and support a class team to deliver high-quality, consistent care and education.
  • Confidence in working with parents/carers and supporting EHCP processes.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Catholic school or similar educational setting.
  • Experience with Thrive methodology or Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
  • Experience in residential or short break provision settings.
  • Familiarity with differentiated curriculum planning and implementation.
