The Opportunity:

A One to One Teaching Assistant is needed to provide tailored support to a Year 7 student with profound bilateral deafness. The role involves advocating for the student’s hearing needs and assisting throughout the school day. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a Year 7 student with profound bilateral deafness throughout the school day.
  • Advocate for the student’s hearing needs and ensure effective communication.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and playground duties as required.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other support personnel to ensure the student's academic and social needs are met.
  • Provide guidance and support to the student in a compassionate and professional manner.
  • Promote an inclusive and positive school environment for all students.
  • Participate in school events and activities where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records and report progress as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working with students with hearing impairments or special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to support students in a one-to-one setting.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student well-being.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work across different areas of the school.

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching or educational support roles.
  • Knowledge of hearing aid technology and cochlear implants.
  • Experience with British Sign Language (BSL) or other communication methods.
  • Background in special needs education or related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
