The Opportunity:
The Head of Computing and Digital Literacy will lead a dynamic department and shape a forward-thinking curriculum that exceeds national standards. This role is ideal for an experienced educator passionate about computing, digital literacy, and STEM. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the school’s digital strategy and inspiring students to become confident, responsible digital citizens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-quality, future-focused Computing curriculum that exceeds National Curriculum expectations.
- Deliver engaging and practical lessons using cutting-edge resources such as robotics kits and Raspberry Pi devices.
- Collaborate with STEM colleagues and the Director of IT to align subject excellence with the school’s digital strategy.
- Implement and enhance a structured Digital Literacy pathway with a strong focus on e-safety and AI literacy.
- Support pupils in developing confident and responsible digital skills that prepare them for the future.
- Work closely with the IT team to ensure integration of Microsoft 365 and other digital tools in teaching and learning.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative department culture that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of the Computing curriculum on student achievement and engagement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in leading a Computing department at a senior level.
- Strong subject knowledge in Computing and Digital Literacy.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery across a range of ages.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and other digital tools used in education.
Preferred
- Experience with AI literacy and e-safety education.
- Background in teaching Digital Literacy or related subjects.
- Experience in a school with a strong STEM focus.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues alike.
