The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Leader, you will play a key role in supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development. This is a pivotal position that shapes the school’s culture and ensures students thrive both academically and personally. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the pastoral care system to support student wellbeing and behaviour.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive student engagement and emotional health.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic student support.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, attendance, and behaviour.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, staff, and parents on pastoral matters.
  • Organise and deliver pastoral events, assemblies, and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and welfare policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align pastoral initiatives with school goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of student behaviour, welfare, and emotional development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to the school’s values of resilience, integrity, and courtesy.
  • Experience in managing a team and delivering pastoral care strategies.

Preferred

  • Experience in a large or multi-academy trust environment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Experience with pastoral support systems and behaviour management frameworks.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to whole-school improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with flexible working arrangements and innovative educational practices.
