Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding pastoral support to students, ensuring their welfare is at the heart of the school.
  • Develop and implement strategies to foster a caring and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and external agencies to support students’ academic and personal development.
  • Deliver counselling and careers guidance to students and their families.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and the wider community.
  • Support the leadership programme and character development initiatives across the school.
  • Manage and monitor student behavior and well-being effectively.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of pastoral care practices within the school.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Experience of working with young people and families in a secondary school setting.
  • Experience of providing counselling or pastoral support within a secondary school setting.
  • The ability to maintain positive relationships with students and other adults.
  • The ability to work effectively and sensitively with a range of groups and individuals.

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or management role within education.
  • Experience in developing and delivering leadership programmes or character development initiatives.
  • Experience of working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Strong organisational and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
