Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the English department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
- Shape and implement a curriculum that promotes reading for pleasure and academic excellence.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support whole-school priorities and initiatives.
- Provide professional development and support to English staff through instructional coaching and evidence-informed practice.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations across the department.
- Work closely with students to inspire a love of English and build confidence in communication.
- Ensure that the department aligns with the school’s values and mission.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress to drive improvement and achievement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within education, preferably in English.
- Strong subject knowledge in English and a deep understanding of curriculum design.
- Experience in leading and developing teaching teams.
- Commitment to evidence-informed practice and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred
- Experience with reading for pleasure initiatives.
- Background in instructional coaching or professional development.
- Familiarity with United Learning’s approach to education.
- Experience in working within a multicultural, multi-faith environment.
