The Opportunity:

As a Payroll Officer, you will play a key role in managing the payroll, pensions, and benefits functions of the school. This is a vital position that ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, while supporting the HR and Finance teams in maintaining a smooth and compliant operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process payroll, pensions, and benefits for staff across the school.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment and tax legislation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related queries and support.
  • Collaborate closely with the HR and Finance teams to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Monitor and maintain payroll systems and processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare and review payroll statements, reports, and documentation.
  • Support the implementation of new payroll systems or processes as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in payroll legislation and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a payroll role, preferably within the education sector.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of payroll software and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with pension schemes and benefits administration.
  • Familiarity with the UK payroll and tax regulations.
  • Experience working in a school or educational institution.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including three days per week.
