The Opportunity:

As a Performing Arts Technician, you will be responsible for managing the technical aspects of school events, from lighting and sound to AV and staging. This role is essential in bringing performances to life and supporting the school’s commitment to creative education and student engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and operate lighting, sound, and AV systems for school productions and events.
  • Support students and staff in the delivery of the performing arts curriculum.
  • Manage event logistics, including setup, coordination, and communication with external organizations.
  • Ensure all technical equipment is safe, functional, and maintained to the highest standard.
  • Conduct risk assessments and coordinate PAT testing as required.
  • Advise on the latest technical developments to enhance the school’s performance capabilities.
  • Oversee set building and stage effects for school shows and events.
  • Film practical work for examinations and support teaching delivery.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Hands-on experience in technical theatre or event production.
  • Confident with sound, lighting, and AV systems.
  • Ability to manage event logistics and coordinate with external organisations.
  • Experience in maintaining and operating technical equipment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of set building and stage management.
  • Experience with curriculum support and filming practical work.
  • Familiarity with PAT testing and risk assessments.
  • Passion for performing arts and education.
