The Opportunity:

The Head of Learning Development - Part-Time will lead a large department, act as SENDCO, and teach Learning Development lessons to students across the school. This role is ideal for an ambitious and dynamic individual who is passionate about education and committed to supporting students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Learning Development Department
  • Act as SENDCO and advocate for students with special educational needs
  • Deliver high-quality Learning Development lessons to students across all year groups
  • Contribute to the development of strategy, policy, and practice in relation to students with SEND
  • Provide training and support to staff on SEND-related issues
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support the implementation of effective teaching and learning strategies
  • Promote the school’s ethos of developing the whole person

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in leading a department within an educational setting
  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in special educational needs
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos of developing the whole person

Preferred

  • Experience in a senior leadership role within education
  • Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme
  • Experience in teaching at the Sixth Form level
  • Knowledge of inclusive education practices
  • Experience in staff training and development
