The Opportunity:
A school is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Physical Education Teacher to join their team on a maternity leave cover starting in September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a school that values innovation, high expectations, and student development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality Physical Education and Sport lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, including GCSE and Technical Awards
- Develop and implement engaging, innovative teaching strategies that promote student participation and achievement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and continuously improve teaching and learning
- Support students in developing both sporting and life skills through a range of extracurricular activities
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for all students
- Maintain accurate records and assessments of student progress
- Stay up to date with developments in Physical Education and Sport, incorporating new ideas into teaching practice
- Promote the school’s values and vision through positive role modeling and leadership
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Relevant subject knowledge and experience in teaching Physical Education and Sport
- Ability to teach a range of sports at KS3 and KS4
- A Rugby Football Union (RFU) Coaching Qualification
- Strong commitment to student achievement and personal development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
- Experience in teaching GCSE and Technical Awards
- Experience with curriculum development and innovation
- Experience in a collaborative and multi-academy environment
- Leadership experience or a desire to take on leadership roles within the department
