The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Physical Education Teacher to join their team on a maternity leave cover starting in September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a school that values innovation, high expectations, and student development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Physical Education and Sport lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, including GCSE and Technical Awards
  • Develop and implement engaging, innovative teaching strategies that promote student participation and achievement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and continuously improve teaching and learning
  • Support students in developing both sporting and life skills through a range of extracurricular activities
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for all students
  • Maintain accurate records and assessments of student progress
  • Stay up to date with developments in Physical Education and Sport, incorporating new ideas into teaching practice
  • Promote the school’s values and vision through positive role modeling and leadership

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Relevant subject knowledge and experience in teaching Physical Education and Sport
  • Ability to teach a range of sports at KS3 and KS4
  • A Rugby Football Union (RFU) Coaching Qualification
  • Strong commitment to student achievement and personal development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Experience in teaching GCSE and Technical Awards
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation
  • Experience in a collaborative and multi-academy environment
  • Leadership experience or a desire to take on leadership roles within the department
