Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Health and Social Care department, ensuring a high-quality and engaging curriculum.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student achievement and progression in Health and Social Care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate cross-curricular themes and support whole-school initiatives.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for teaching staff within the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the department to ensure alignment with school objectives.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student well-being and personal growth.
  • Stay up to date with developments in Health and Social Care education and incorporate best practices into teaching and learning.
  • Represent the department at meetings, conferences, and other events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge and experience in Health and Social Care.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or similar role.
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in Health and Social Care education.
  • Experience with innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Experience in working within a large, diverse school environment.
