The Opportunity:

As a Physics Curriculum Leader, you will play a key role in shaping the physics curriculum and driving academic excellence. This is an opportunity to lead, inspire, and support students in achieving outstanding outcomes in physics at all levels, including A Level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a high-quality physics curriculum aligned with the school’s mission and academic standards.
  • Lead and mentor physics teachers to ensure consistent delivery of outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support to improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-phase colleagues to enhance curriculum coherence and student pathways.
  • Promote the study of physics through engaging and innovative teaching practices.
  • Represent the physics department in school-wide meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Support the development of students’ character and life skills through curriculum and extra-curricular activities.
  • Ensure the physics department remains up to date with best practices and curriculum developments.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge and experience in physics education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a curriculum or departmental role.
  • Strong understanding of physics curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in a large, successful school or academy setting.
  • Experience in developing and leading cross-phase initiatives.
  • Familiarity with A Level physics and sixth-form teaching.
  • Experience in pastoral care or student well-being support.
