The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Head of Science Department to lead and inspire a team of educators. As a Head of Science, you will play a key role in shaping the future of science education at the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Science curriculum that aligns with school goals.
  • Support and mentor Science staff to enhance teaching practices and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate science across the curriculum.
  • Represent the Science Department at school events and meetings.
  • Ensure the department meets all statutory and Ofsted requirements.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Science education.
  • Proven leadership experience within a school department.
  • Strong knowledge of Science curriculum and assessment practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department for the first time or previously.
  • Familiarity with Ofsted standards and school improvement strategies.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation.
  • Strong understanding of student welfare and pastoral care.
