The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Physics Teacher to join a successful Science department and support the delivery of high-quality Physics education at Key Stage 4 and 5. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student achievement and contribute to a dynamic learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate, and modify Schemes of Work for GCSE Physics, Combined Science (Physics), and A Level Physics.
  • Provide leadership and professional development for Science teachers, including non-specialists teaching Key Stage 3 Physics.
  • Monitor and analyze student performance in A Level Physics, providing recommendations and strategies for improvement.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching strategies to enhance student attainment and progress in public examinations.
  • Create and administer Pre-Public Examination papers, mark schemes, and in-class assessments for GCSE and A Level Physics.
  • Develop and maintain teaching and learning calendars for all Physics key stages.
  • Design and implement pupil progress trackers for GCSE Physics and Combined Science (Physics).
  • Ensure the quality and marking of homework and independent work for A Level Physics students.
  • Lead intervention strategies for underperforming students in A Level Physics and support revision sessions.
  • Collaborate with Key Stage 4 Science post holders to develop intervention initiatives for GCSE Physics.
  • Ensure the department has appropriate resources to deliver the Physics curriculum effectively.
  • Support and mentor ITT students and ECTs.
  • Organize extra-curricular activities and enter students in the Physics Olympiad.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and complete required training.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant subject knowledge in Physics.
  • Experience in teaching GCSE and A Level Physics.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate teaching strategies.
  • Experience in assessment, recording, and reporting systems.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading departmental initiatives or acting as a subject leader.
  • Experience with professional development and staff training.
  • Familiarity with research-informed best practices in Science education.
  • Experience in curriculum development and resource creation.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
