The Opportunity:

Join a supportive and collaborative team as a Trainee Computing Teacher and take the first step toward gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This role provides a structured, employment-based training pathway with a reduced timetable, high-quality mentoring, and opportunities to develop your teaching skills in a well-resourced and inspiring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and deliver high-quality computing and computer science lessons to students across key stages.
  • Work closely with experienced teachers and the Head of Department to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Participate in shared planning and collaborative teaching practices to enhance student learning.
  • Attend weekly training sessions and complete the one-year course to attain Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Undertake a short placement in another school to gain additional teaching experience.
  • Contribute to the school’s commitment to developing the whole person through co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Provide regular feedback and assessments to support student progress and achievement.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and subject knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A graduate or career changer looking to train as a Computing/Computer Science teacher.
  • Willingness to attain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through the one-year employment-based course.
  • Commitment to working in a dynamic and collaborative teaching environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Previous teaching experience or experience in education.
  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or similar.
  • Familiarity with technology and digital tools used in modern classrooms.
  • Passion for computing and computer science education.
  • Experience in curriculum development or lesson planning.
