The Opportunity:
As a Physics Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic and personal development of highly motivated students. You will teach across a range of qualifications, including CAIE IGCSE and OCR Physics A, while contributing to the school’s strong pastoral and extra-curricular culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach a full weekly timetable, setting and marking work in line with departmental policies.
- Maintain accurate records of student attainment and provide constructive feedback through oral and written assessments.
- Develop and share innovative digital teaching resources with the department.
- Assist with marking scholarship and entrance exams and invigilate internal and external examinations.
- Write insightful pupil reports and communicate effectively with parents through meetings or email.
- Attend staff meetings, parents' evenings, and professional development sessions.
- Act as a tutor to a group of pupils within a boarding house, supporting their academic and personal growth.
- Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme, including Physics Olympiad training and science societies.
- Provide cover for staff absences within the department or wider school as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- An excellent Honours degree in Physics or a related field.
- Proven ability to teach Physics at both IGCSE and A-Level.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and sensitively.
- Experience in managing a classroom and building positive relationships with students.
- Commitment to academic excellence and the development of student well-being.
Preferred
- Experience working in a boarding school environment.
- Involvement in extra-curricular science activities or competitions.
- Familiarity with digital teaching tools and resources.
- Experience with the CAIE or OCR examination boards.
