The Opportunity:

As a Physics Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the academic and personal development of highly motivated students. You will teach across a range of qualifications, including CAIE IGCSE and OCR Physics A, while contributing to the school’s strong pastoral and extra-curricular culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a full weekly timetable, setting and marking work in line with departmental policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attainment and provide constructive feedback through oral and written assessments.
  • Develop and share innovative digital teaching resources with the department.
  • Assist with marking scholarship and entrance exams and invigilate internal and external examinations.
  • Write insightful pupil reports and communicate effectively with parents through meetings or email.
  • Attend staff meetings, parents' evenings, and professional development sessions.
  • Act as a tutor to a group of pupils within a boarding house, supporting their academic and personal growth.
  • Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular programme, including Physics Olympiad training and science societies.
  • Provide cover for staff absences within the department or wider school as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • An excellent Honours degree in Physics or a related field.
  • Proven ability to teach Physics at both IGCSE and A-Level.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and sensitively.
  • Experience in managing a classroom and building positive relationships with students.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and the development of student well-being.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a boarding school environment.
  • Involvement in extra-curricular science activities or competitions.
  • Familiarity with digital teaching tools and resources.
  • Experience with the CAIE or OCR examination boards.
