The Opportunity:

As a Premises Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and quality of the school’s buildings and spaces. This role is essential in ensuring that the environment supports the wellbeing and learning of students, while upholding high standards of maintenance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair buildings and facilities to ensure they are safe and functional for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with external contractors to coordinate maintenance and repair work efficiently.
  • Manage day-to-day upkeep of educational and residential areas with minimal supervision.
  • Support the Estates and Maintenance team in delivering a well-maintained and welcoming environment.
  • Ensure all work is carried out to a high standard, reflecting the school’s commitment to quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to meet the needs of students and maintain a positive working environment.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues and prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience as a maintenance operative or handyman, with a focus on practical, hands-on work.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety, safeguarding, and compliance in an educational setting.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to working in line with the values of a values-driven organisation.

Preferred

  • Experience in a specialist education or residential environment.
  • Knowledge of building regulations and statutory compliance procedures.
  • Experience with maintenance software or systems.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required.
