The Opportunity:

As a Primary School Counselor, you will provide therapeutic support to students in primary and secondary levels, helping them navigate emotional, social, and behavioral challenges. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students through individual and group counseling sessions using a range of therapeutic approaches.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to develop and implement intervention strategies.
  • Provide crisis intervention and maintain secure, detailed records of counseling sessions.
  • Engage in monthly clinical supervision with a qualified supervisor to ensure professional growth and support.
  • Utilize technology to enhance the counseling process and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school’s commitment to student and staff well-being.
  • Work flexibly and creatively to address the diverse needs of students and support their emotional and social development.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships within the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with children facing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges.
  • Confidence in working one-to-one, with families, and in small groups.
  • Ability to provide crisis intervention and use verbal and non-verbal therapeutic techniques.
  • Strong reflective and flexible practice with the ability to think creatively.
  • Competence in using ICT to support the counseling process.
  • Ability to maintain secure and detailed case records.
  • Commitment to engaging in monthly clinical supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • Warm and relatable personality with the ability to engage and motivate students, parents, and staff.

Preferred

  • Experience with counseling in an international or multicultural setting.
  • Background in child psychology or related field.
  • Familiarity with British-based education systems or curricula.
  • Experience with digital learning platforms such as Google Apps for Education.
