Safeguarding and Outreach Officer role available at a school committed to student well-being and family support.

The Opportunity:

As a Safeguarding and Outreach Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting students and families through early help interventions. This position involves working closely with parents and carers to promote positive mental health, resilience, and educational engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement early help plans to support families and students.
  • Provide individualised intervention to address challenges impacting student attendance and progress.
  • Conduct formulisation meetings and coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure effective support.
  • Offer guidance and resources to parents and carers to improve home environments and promote student well-being.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions to ensure positive outcomes for students.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on all interventions and student progress.
  • Attend training and professional development opportunities to enhance safeguarding practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 5+ GCSEs at C/4 or above, including English and Mathematics.
  • Completion of 3-day Designated Safeguarding Officer training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of factors affecting the social, emotional, and mental health of children and young people.
  • Proven experience in a safeguarding role, including providing early help for children and families.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches and mental health support strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
