School Counsellor needed for part-time role at a school in Hertfordshire.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated School Counsellor to support students in developing emotional resilience and wellbeing. This role is ideal for a professional who values confidentiality, safeguarding, and the holistic growth of young people. The position is part-time and offers a flexible schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one counselling support to students requiring additional emotional and psychological guidance.
  • Work closely with the pastoral team to ensure a consistent and supportive approach to student wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure strict adherence to confidentiality and safeguarding protocols.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote student mental health and resilience.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to support the holistic development of students.
  • Deliver group sessions or workshops on emotional wellbeing and coping strategies.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of counselling interventions on student outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified and experienced School Counsellor with relevant professional accreditation.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent mental health and wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a school environment and manage a varied caseload.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
  • Commitment to promoting British values and the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an educational setting, ideally within a school.
  • Knowledge of supporting students with special educational needs and/or English as an Additional Language.
  • Experience in delivering group sessions or workshops on emotional and mental health.
