The Opportunity:

The School Counsellor plays a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of students. This position involves working closely with students, parents, teachers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student wellbeing and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the social, emotional, personal, and academic growth of all students.
  • Provide counselling to individual students and small groups based on identified needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and set meaningful goals for students.
  • Conduct assessments, interpret data, and provide clear and concise reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external service providers and internal school teams.
  • Deliver workshops and programs to parents and students on topics such as child development and transition.
  • Coordinate referrals to external agencies and support students and parents throughout the referral process.
  • Maintain a database of student consultations and interventions and ensure strict confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Certification in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work.
  • At least three years of school-based experience or previous experience working with schools and students in a counselling capacity.
  • A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with international curricula and multi-cultural environments.
  • Experience in delivering student support programs and workshops.
  • Understanding of child development, emotional, and social issues.
  • Experience with child protection policies and procedures.
