The Opportunity:
The School Counsellor plays a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of students. This position involves working closely with students, parents, teachers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student wellbeing and success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the social, emotional, personal, and academic growth of all students.
- Provide counselling to individual students and small groups based on identified needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and set meaningful goals for students.
- Conduct assessments, interpret data, and provide clear and concise reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external service providers and internal school teams.
- Deliver workshops and programs to parents and students on topics such as child development and transition.
- Coordinate referrals to external agencies and support students and parents throughout the referral process.
- Maintain a database of student consultations and interventions and ensure strict confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Certification in Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work.
- At least three years of school-based experience or previous experience working with schools and students in a counselling capacity.
- A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
- Strong IT skills.
Preferred
- Experience with international curricula and multi-cultural environments.
- Experience in delivering student support programs and workshops.
- Understanding of child development, emotional, and social issues.
- Experience with child protection policies and procedures.
